An algorithm and application to efficiently analyse DNA fibre data

The duplication of genetic information (DNA replication) is central to life. Numerous control mechanisms ensure the exact course process during each cell division. Disturbances DNA replication have severe consequences for affected cell, and current models link them cancer development. One most accurate methods studying labelling newly synthesised molecules with halogenated nucleotides, followed by immunofluorescence microscopy detection, known as fibre labelling. method allows registration activity single complexes measuring length “trace” left them. major difficulty labor-intensive analysis, which requires lengths a large number labelled fragments. Recently, interest in this kind image analysis has grown rapidly. In project we developed an algorithm lightweight Java application automatically analyse molecule images that named “DNA size finder”. finder significantly simplified experimental data while increasing reliability standardised measurement greater molecules. It freely available does not require any paid platforms or services be used. We hope will facilitate both study effects various compounds used human on replication.
